Oh this is just taking it to the extreme really - I have seen dozens of wallpapers on DA using art that is already out there, as long as you are stating it isn't your work, but you are using it in work of your own - which you are not making money from I might add - how is there an issue?
If someone wanted to take my work and make it into a wallpaper i'd feel somewhat honoured really, and as long as they didn't sell it or claim it was all their own, I have no issue....it's free advertising if nothing else!

See, I've gotten around that recently by displaying my wallpaper as a desktop screenshot, with a link to an offsite server that lets you download the wallpaper I'm using. It's a loophole they haven't quite caught onto yet.

I've had these problems with DA before. Sucks that they aren't consistent with their own rules.

How to get pageviews without adcast or any hassle.

It is. I received four messages about individual violations first, then they realized how bad-ass I am and just sent a singel one note saying "33 deviation violations"......

I'd feel the same way. I actually wanted to use dA to spread my work. I love to see it in slideshows at youtube. It's an honour.

I may do that too. I just don't know where to put my desktop icons, though. Don't want them taking up 99% of the wallpaper....xD Okay, not as much. Just exaggerating a bit.

They really aren't. I've seen lots of other wallpapers which would be violations.
I think it's worse when you claim it's your own work. I actually met one teen boy here who took other people's work and claimed it was his to become famous.

Hey... I'm really really sorry for that! I can't say how much this shocked me. Your wallpapers are truly one of the greatest and it's a shame for Deviantart to loose you. They don't know what they miss!! grrr... this is making me angry.
